I love this album! I love the tone of his voice even tho it is lower and raspier than before. "Honestly" is my favorite off this album. So great.
  • It's not the same Tesla.

No offense to Dave Rude. Thanks to him for keeping the band going and giving them a shot of youth but he will never replace the chemistry b/t Frank & Tommy. Tommy's guitar work is obviously missing. Go listen to his 2 solo albums. He can't sing for nothing but almost every single song is awesome musically. The guy knows how to shred and composes some really great solos and rhythyms. He plays every instrument except the drums I think. Tesla can still put together some good tunes but it's not the same overall. Jeff sounded his best when he was with Tommy in Bar 7. His voice was great. These last 2 albums he has gotten more strained sounding and has more of an old smoker's voice. Maybe he just can't sing like he used to because of time and hard living. I miss the more bluesy side of his voice. I know they had to get rid of Tommy because he couldn't keep clean. Hopefully he comes back before it's too late. I hate to say it but Tommy sounds more like Tesla than Tesla musically. Of course Jeff's voice will always be Tesla but losing Tommy makes you realize the contribution he had to their sound.

These guys have been unstoppable for almost 30 years now when it comes to putting out good material. And somehow as good as the studio tracks are they managed to be an even better live act. For those complaining about Jeffs rasp, that's been around for way longer than just this release. (Watch a couple songs from Comin Atcha Live 2008 if you don't believe me.) His rasp is just a lot more prevalent on this one because the production didn't use a lot of polishing/overdubbing etc. Check this album out it'll grow on you after a few plays

I've never bought a bad Tesla release. This one is no exception. Nice to see iTunes finally got this one online. I will likely drive my family nuts playing "So Devine" excessively.
